millennium mambo (2001), dir. hou hsiao-hsien

my favorite bluray i own.

nosferatu (2024), dir. robert eggers

i don't know if i would say this remake was necessary, but i'm still so here for it. lily rose delivered! and personally, i'm always having a good time when goth horror is on the screen so... i'll def watch this more than once.

fallen angels (1995), dir. wong kar-wai

i spent a summer watching most wong kar-wai films with friends, and i think we can all agree that in the mood for love is his best one, but this is my personal favorite. i think if you look at the films that surround it on this page it's clear why, but the atmosphere is just so trippy and electric, there's nothing like it.

writing this now, i think i'll go and rewatch it immediately.

light sleeper (1992), dir. paul schrader

i used to have insomnia for a few years, and this was an essential watch.
i also think the cast is fantastic.

hackers (1995), dir. iain softley

the soundtrack of this film is really, really good. full of trip-hoppy songs. the fashion is also wonderful. you should google it regardless of whether or not you're gonna watch this gem. a lot of people talk about how the fifth element has fun sci-fi fashion, but this baby came out two years prior and not enough people talk about it.

when i rewatched it for the first time in years in 2024, i immediately had to own it on dvd and got it for like 3 bucks too. that's a steal.

shiva baby (2021), dir. emma seligman

weirdly a comfort movie, and maybe i'll let you know why sometime soon. in that case i'll update this xx

gia (1998), dir. michael cristofer

second angelina jolie film on this list? you bet.
one of my favorite films featuring a sapphic relationship. angelina jolie and elizabeth mitchell do such an amazing job and have so much chemistry, it makes me want to weep every single time.
