if you're wondering what this is? it's just clutter. a semi-updated version of my brain.
since its my almost last semester of uni, i'll still be involved in exams and studying
until like mid-march probably. this semester my main courses were on the history of economic thought
which was pretty damn interesting as well as the scientific study of start-ups, which was less interesting
to me personally, but i needed the credits.
exam season
haven't been using my psp as much as i'd like, but i downloaded some cool and fun games for it
so that might actually change soon.

thoughts on phone size
there is much to be said about the increasing size of phones.
for one i think it's interesting how naturally humans have different hand sizes, but these devices keep getting bigger and bigger regardless of hand size and handling.
i understand that an increase in size brings many benefits; space for a bigger battery above all else, and with the constant increase in computing power, higher battery capacities are needed.
- daily space inconvenience -
BUT in many ways it is starting to feel like we are adjusting to our phones instead of the other way around and weren't these devices initially meant to be
peak convenience? of course, i'm not the first person to criticize this about modern smartphones,
but i feel like most of the dumbphone community tends to focus on software and phones as a distraction. which is something i can agree with, but i'm much more
annoyed by phones as a daily space inconvenience.
surely, this goes hand in hand with the lack of space in women's (pants) pockets, so i can't blame it all on the phones, but their growing size remains a problem (to me).
personally, i used an iphone se (first gen, 4inch screen) for as long as i could, and switched to an iphone 12 mini (5'4 inch screen), but i can't help but think that the 4 inch se was so much better size-wise.
even if i wanted to i couldn't go back to the 4inch phone
most of my favorite films and tv shows are from the late 90s or 2000s, and sometimes i watch these characters on screen get out their
small, easily handled phones, and make calls or take a photo, and
STUPIDLY i get almost jealous that their phones are so small and uncomplicated.
i say stupid, because duh, their phones are so much less capable than ours, and where many people feel overwhelmed by smartphones, i do actually like their features, i just wish (i am begging) that our phones were smaller too.
the thing is, even if i wanted to i couldn't go back to the 4inch phone, because the software is so overwhelming for the battery at this point that even minimal/necessary apps like imessage and music streaming would drain the thing within a few
hours.
hell, sometimes when i turn it on i can watch the battery percentage fall point by point just being on the home screen. so i guess the conclusion is to upgrade to a 13 mini when my 12 mini dies, and hold onto that for as long as i can.
others might suggest switching to android which also offers the odd smaller smartphone, but i don't see myself switching ecosystems any time soon.
